Every year, ecomaine, Maine’s leader in single-sort recycling, looks for local artists of all ages to turn its recycling drop-off containers into vibrant works of colorful art in its annual ecomaine Recycling is a Work of Art Contest.

Due to uncertainty related to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as shortages in rental equipment, electronic waste vendors and labor, ecomaine has reached the sad decision to cancel its 2021 Open House.

ecomaine’s 2021 eco-Excellence Award Winners Announced
Normally, ecomaine’s eco-Excellence Award winners are announced at a luncheon event with dozens of people in attendance. In fact, the 2020 event was one of the very last events ecomaine held before the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown occurred. But with so much uncertainty in early 2021, we chose to honor this year’s class via a video tribute, unveiled at ecomaine’s 2021 Annual Meeting in Portland.

Castaldi, employs multiple independent scientific reviews to provide a modern and comprehensive appraisal of waste-to-energy’s advantages in providing a sustainable approach to solid waste.
Fiddlehead Center for the Arts wins ecomaine’s ‘Upcycle Challenge’
ecomaine is pleased to announce that the Fiddlehead Center for the Arts in Scarborough won the most votes for its design of a working chandelier made from single-use plastic bottles, foam, bottle caps, felt, and other materials.
