Spring is here, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to refresh your wardrobe, sustainably! This Earth Day, ecomaine is teaming up with Goodwill Northern New England to host a Clothing Swap at the City of Portland’s Earth Day Celebration in Payson Park on Saturday, April 12, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
How It Works:
- Bring gently used clothing that no longer serves you. Whether it’s something you’ve outgrown or just don’t wear anymore.
- Browse for “new-to-you” items from others in the community and give them a second life.
- Donate any leftover items to Goodwill NNE, where they’ll continue to benefit people and the planet.
Why Participate?
- Reduce textile waste: The U.S. throws away nearly 11 million tons of clothing annually, much of which could be reused or recycled.
- Support a circular economy: Instead of buying new, swapping keeps clothes in use longer.
- Save money & resources: Refresh your wardrobe without spending a dime!
Beyond the clothing swap, Portland’s Earth Day Celebration will be packed with fun activities: live music, food trucks, e-bike demos, face painting, and outdoor games. Families can also take part in the Egg Scramble at 10:30 AM before the festival kicks off!
Let’s swap, save, and celebrate the Earth together! 🌎♻️
