Introducing Our EPA Grant Team

We’re so excited to introduce ecomaine’s new team members, backed by $2 Million EPA Grant that takes on multi-family recycling challenges across Maine!

At ecomaine, we’re always striving to help Maine’s communities sustainably manage waste, and our latest program is no exception. Thanks to a $2 million grant from the EPA, we’re tackling one of recycling’s most persistent challenges: multi-family buildings. Apartments and condos often face hurdles like limited space, lack of resources, and contamination, but we’re ready to break those barriers and help to make recycling more accessible to everyone.

This initiative is driven by an exceptional team: Zoe Malia, Program Manager, brings valuable experience from her leadership in sustainability at Allagash Brewing Company. Project Coordinator Sarah Folan, has a strong background in environmental science and waste reduction. Lastly Adam Clair, also a Project Coordinator, leverages his deep knowledge and passion from his internship at ecomaine. Together, they’re equipped to provide tailored education, resources, and tools to property managers, tenants, and owners, ensuring that recycling is accessible and effective for all.

Funded by the largest recycling investment from the EPA in 30 years, this program represents a pivotal step in improving recycling rates and reducing contamination in multi-family units. It’s also a testament to ecomaine’s mission to reduce waste and protect Maine’s natural beauty.

We’re proud to lead the charge toward a more sustainable Maine, and we can’t wait to see the impact this program will have. Together, let’s make recycling work for every community!
